Part of what makes the PropShop24 team that much more awesome is the fact that we’re all pet lovers and many are pet-parents. Having a furry baby means that the scout for excellent animal-friendly restaurants and cafes is always on.

This search has led us to some of the coolest spots around Bombay and we’re going to let you in on this action. So, if your weekend is shaping up to be just you and your pet, then why not set up a date at any of these eateries. After all, we’re all about animals over people right?

1. Priyanka Jain Suggests Cat Café, 7 Bungalows

India’s first Cat Café started as a small rescue operation involving 2-3 stray cats and 2 sisters. In order to look for a happy home for the little furball, they started to spread the word via their friends and the next thing you know, it was a full-fledged cat café! Sheltering over 20+ cats rescued from all over the streets of Bombay, it became India’s first shelter/adoption house that also serves a little bit of food. In exactly one year with all their popularity, it was time for them to grow – they moved to a bigger place. Currently, located in 7 Bungalows, they now shelter over 40-45 cats with a bigger menu and events running over the weekends.

Team PropShop24: Why do you like this pet-friendly café?
Priyanka:
There are a dime a dozen adoption camps/houses across the country but Cat Café rescues everyone in sight! I clearly remember Salem (this black cat) who was stamped on as a baby because he was a “black cat” and he could not walk or even stand on his legs – he could only move his eyes. Cat café rescued this baby and they made sure he was taken care of until a family in Bangalore adopted him.

Second and most importantly, once a cat is adopted they make sure to check on the cat, again and again, every couple of months. If they ever come across a case where the pet is not handled properly, they get the cat back to Cat Café.

TPS24: What your pet enjoys most about going to a café with you?
P: Unfortunately, you cannot take your pets to the cat café, so I don’t take my cats. However, in the café section (Food area) they are happy to chill with some friendly dogs without leashes of course!

TPS24:  What is your pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
P:
I have three cats namely Fluffy, Sparkle & Beauty. Obviously, we thought a lot about their names. Fluffy as the name suggests is self-explanatory. He is a fluff ball. Sparkle, to be honest, I stole it from a random tattoo I saw on someone. And Beauty, my father looked at her and uttered beauty – And that was it! In hindsight, I know I could’ve named them the regular cat names but I feel like these names are exactly what I feel for them. PS, confessions of a crazy cat lady.

TPS24:  What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten people when they see your pets?
P: That they are is filled with Catitude haha!

2. Ayesha Alam Suggests Leaping Windows, Yari Road

A library, a home and a café! A well-spread menu, a cozy room, tons of comics to read with your furry friend at a super cute café in Andheri called Leaping Windows.

Team PropShop24: Why do you like this pet-friendly café?
Ayesha: On an off day from work, I usually enjoy a good read with some good healthy food along with my moody cat. Leaping Windows is a library full of comics! Graphic novels that tell a tale from the imaginary world covering genres like action & adventure, fantasy, drama, mystery & crime, humour etc. It’s like sitting in one place, sipping my coffee but travelling to a whole new world.

TPS24:  What your pet enjoys most about going to a café with you?
A: Bubs is a very very moody cat! She will see one chance to run and actually run at lightning speed. But, once she reaches an unknown area she comes running back haha! Bubs is also very social. She loves meeting new people and enjoys playing with them while sniffing/attacking their bags.

TPS24:  What is your pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
A:
Bubs came into my life via my flatmate Ankita. TBH, I have a dog back home and I wasn’t much of a cat person until I met Bubs. But it’s safe to say that she has indeed changed my perception towards cats.

TPS24:  What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten from other people when they see your pet?
A: That she has the nicest button eyes! Her eyes are sure to melt your heart but don’t get carried away, she is naughty and a runner. She will make a dash for it.

3. Gunjan Malhotra Suggests Café Pefe, Lokhandwala

Nestled in busy Lokhandwala is Cafe Pefe, a super place to chill with your pets and get some great food too. Cafe Pefe also celebrates your pet’s birthday and even gives them a little surprise if, you DM them on social media before time and tell them your pet’s name. How Fun!
TPS24: Why do you like this pet-friendly café?
Gunjan: I have been to so many places where my dog cannot join me for meals or for my birthday brunch or for his birthday, but finally here is a dog café where I can chill with my dog and his friends leash-free.

TPS24: What your pet enjoys most about going to a café with you?
G: My dog loves drives! You just have to say the word and he will get so happy that he starts jumping around. My Puchuuu loves meeting big dogs at Pefe. I don’t think he knows he is a cocker spaniel. He loves big dogs and enjoys chilling with them. Haha!

TPS24: What is your pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
G:
We named him Puchuuu because we were in the middle of deciding names but I think my sister and I are still debating over this (9 years into his life haha). I was 14 years old when we moved to a new house and we were looking for a pet. I have grown up with cats all my life but my dad suggested we get a dog home to understand love and loyalty and this is how a 64 days old cocker spaniel who could barely stand came into our lives.

TPS24:  What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten from other people when they see your pet?
G: My Puchuuu is the most chill on this planet. You can manhandle him, take his toy away, play with other dogs and he will love you just as much. The nicest reaction I ever got was because my dog runs away with my wallet, it’s like he holds it for me!

4. Mohit Gupta Suggests Puppy Cuddles, Khar

Puppy Cuddles is actually a dog salon and daycare all-in-one. If you haven’t guessed it already, this place offers cuddle sessions where you get to have some much-needed cuddle time with the resident dogs. Now, what’s not to love about that?!

TPS24:  Why do you like this pet-friendly place?
Mohit: I like Puppy Cuddles because they have about 15-17 dogs that are super playful and super friendly. From tiny little beagles to super sharp blue-eyed husky.

TPS24: What your pet enjoys most about going to a pet-friendly place with you?
M: Unfortunately, I do not have a pet at home but I foster animals and have about 4 cats in my building. But at Puppy Cuddles, this super cute Chow Chow named Paw Paw definitely has my heart!

TPS24: What is your foster pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
M:
At work we have a separate corner called the Myrah Spa (i.e a chill spot) that is how I named my foster dog Myrah. I used to be scared of dogs. Often running in the opposite direction but my friend Gunjan unknowingly helped me change my opinion and my feelings towards animals in general. I now keep a big packet of dog food in my car for all the stray dogs I come across.

TPS24: What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten from people when they see your pets?
M: Two of my building’s foster cats look identical! And when my friends meet them, they are surprised by their mirror-image appearance.

5. Udit Jain Suggests Doolally Taproom, Khar/Andheri

Your love for beer and animals all perfectly come together at Doolally Taproom. It’s a no-brainer when it comes to what to do over the weekends, grab a chair and take your doggie along with you to this spot. If that isn’t enough there are also some board games to entertain and yummy bar food – what more do you need huh?

TPS24: Why do you like this pet-friendly café?
Udit: Beers + DOGS. Need I say more?!

TPS24: What your pet enjoys most about going to a café with you?
U: Cookie is a real attention seeker. Just like all the other cocker spaniels Cookie loves attention, loves to drool over whatever I’m eating and enjoys belly rubs. Trust me, if she spots you at a café she will make sure you fall for her puppy eyes!

TPS24: What is your pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
U:
My dog’s name is Cookie. She came into my life as an injured pup. A friend’s dog delivered two puppies (Cookie being one of them) was injured by a crow. We started looking after her and from that point on, there was no going back.

TPS24: What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten from other people when they see your pet?
U: Her obedience – unlike most of my friend’s pets, Cookie is a very well behaved dog. And when my friends see that they are often shocked. She understands different comands such as ‘Yes/No’ and ‘shake hands.’ Plus, she is trained to the extent that she will not budge until I comand her.

6. Vicky Daniel Suggests Gostana, Khar

If you live in Khar, you probably already know about Gostana.  They’re known for they’re delicious food, homely vibe and local musicians who like to jam there from time to time. You may not know though that this little hidden gem is also pet-friendly!

TPS24: Why do you like this pet-friendly café?
Vicky:
A small house converted into a small café with cozy vibes and Zizou welcoming everyone with hugs and kisses serving some yummy food. Plus, some good books to read and often acoustic music. What’s not to love?

TPS24: What your pet enjoys most about going to a café with you?
V: Max is a really really hyper dog who loves to play, loves to fetch and enjoys meeting other hyper dogs. Max and Zizou are friends. They met when Zizou was just rescued and was a little scared but I’m sure Max made her feel welcomed. I guess that’s why they are friends now.

TPS24: What is your pet’s name and how did they come into your life?
V:
Max Brown is an Indian Pariah who was right outside my building as a puppy. I picked him up from the streets and gave him the love he deserves. Today, he enjoys belly rubs, tons of toys and a lot of treats!

TPS24: What’s the best reaction you’ve gotten from other people when they see your pet?
V: Trust me when I say this, Max runs faster than any other dog I have ever seen or met. My friends are often trying to get hold of him because he loves jumping and running around haha.
